Waterloo Optimist Club Tag Days
The Waterloo Optimist Club Tag Days is the most important fundraising event of the year. Without your team’s support of Tag Days the cost for a player to participate in Optimist Baseball could potentially cost each player $100.00 to $125.00 as is the case in other cities in Iowa. The current cost for a player in the major league program is $55.00. We would like to ask each team to strive to collect at least $300.00 minimum at your assigned sight. Remember, all the money raised by the Waterloo Optimist Club is used to finance programs for young people in our community throughout the year.
You will be given cans and Tag Day tags. Make sure the Tags are given to people making donations. We ask that each team have an adult present to supervise and organize the team and insure the safety of the players at your assigned work sight. Depending on your work sight, we suggest that you have team members at your assigned sight for a period of eight hours a day. You may adjust the times if you think you can’t cover the sight during the time suggested.
Some sights are a little more sensitive about having the players there than others. Please be sure all your parent supervisors and players to be extremely courteous at the sights.
You will receive six collection cans to distribute to the players. The smaller cans should be emptied into a larger container periodically. An adult should handle the larger container and the emptying procedure. The larger container and the six cans must be turned in at Young Ice Arena at the end of the day.
